Most people do not enjoy being photographed. That hesitation is expected. It is also where this work begins.
An unforced approach.
These sessions are designed to be calm and unhurried.
Rather than asking you to perform or hold a fixed expression, I pay attention to how you naturally settle into yourself. Small shifts in posture. Changes in energy. Moments where tension eases and something more accurate appears.
The aim is not to manufacture confidence, but to allow it to surface.
What this kind of portrait offers.
There is a saying in Kiswahili: "Chema chajiuza. Kibaya chajitembeza."
A good headshot does not announce itself. It stands confidently on its own. It feels grounded, familiar and recognisable - reflecting how you show up when you are not trying to impress, inviting trust rather than demanding attention.
Whether the portrait is for personal branding, organisational use or professional profiles, the goal is the same: to make an image that reads as you - actually you, rather than a performance.
When we keep the session unforced, the result travels well: across a website bio, a press kit, a board deck or a LinkedIn update - consistent, clear and true.
You are not expected to know how to pose.
I take time to find a rhythm that feels natural, whether in a studio or on location. When direction is helpful, I offer it lightly. When it is not, I lean into the authenticity of the moment.
The details are my responsibility. Yours is simply to stay true to who you are.
