Urban Queens: A Portrait of Friendship

Both of these women are humans I dearly love. It recently happened to be Mwende’s birthday, and because my economic situation isn’t exactly what I’d call fluid at the moment, I reached out to her offering the one gift I can fully and confidently offer.

And so a date for a photo shoot was set. With just one request from her: “Can I invite Wambui? I really want to do a shoot with her before I leave.” Deny you the chance to have an amazing time with your beloved, long-time friend? I would never!

There’s a certain underrated beauty to genuine friendship that often goes unmentioned: The freedom to simply be yourself in each other’s presence, and be absolutely comfortable with every aspect of yourselves. Just like what I’m about to show you.

This happened as I was testing my lighting, and I loved it: Being so completely at ease and secure in each other’s company that silence is a very comfortable feature to you both. My opinion: It speaks volumes of the levels of trust you have in each other.

Yes, the stories throughout this shoot were 🔥🔥🔥!

What’s that? No! Never! I won’t tell you what they were talking about here! Figure it out!

Look at them. Billboard ready.

Mwende & Wambui, thank you for allowing me into your space, and to capture some of the moments in your friendship. I loved every minute of it.

Yes, you can book yourself a moment. Or for a loved one. Or for you and a loved one. Be it personal portrait, friendship portrait, couple/family portrait; or an event you have coming up – wedding, music, private family function… You get the idea. As long as there are stories to tell, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a storyteller as good.

It’s simple: Just drop me a line on stillsbymarcus@gmail.com, and we’ll chat.
