This is Nairobi: “Mwanzo” with Lisa Oduor-Noah

The following is a statement of fact: Lisa Oduor-Noah is nothing short of a gem.

“Mwanzo” was a wonderful, intimate concert that Lisa staged earlier this month. I couldn’t possibly adequately describe the levels of heart this gig brought.

Lisa has a voice that could calm a storm. I mean that: An actual storm could come to a complete stop and take a seat to listen to her voice as said storm realises it may actually have a soul.

And it wasn’t just Lisa – her vocalists and her band brought it.

I mean, look at that band. These are musical heavyweights in terms of the talent they wield.

And there were more in the way of pure talent on that stage…

I won’t lie: This one stretched me! One source of light, very low light, but very hard shadows. So it stretched my shooting, as well as my editing.

Lisa and her band though? Made every single effort worth it. And I’m quite happy with the result.

During the edit though, I did play around with a few styles. First, there was the desaturated matte style on the images you’ve seen so far.

Then there were some in which I leaned hard into the deep blacks…

…and finally, classic BnW matte…

So I’d like to know: Which style caught your attention, and why? Comments down below – I’m quite curious 🙂

Yes, you can book yourself a moment. Or for a loved one. Or for you and a loved one. Be it personal portrait, friendship portrait, couple/family portrait; or an event you have coming up – wedding, music, private family function… You get the idea. As long as there are stories to tell, I’m good at freezing those moments in time.

It’s simple: Just drop me a line on stillsbymarcus@gmail.com, and we’ll chat.
