Sometimes I carry my camera to events and beat photos.
Events like Motown In Nairobi.
You see, I come from a side of Kenya where photos aren’t ‘taken’. That concept doesn’t exist where I come from.
Where I come from, we “goyo picha“. We chwado images. We beat photos.
For this particular one, as soon as I got home and started transferring the photos from my camera’s memory card, a thought hit me.
So I decided to give the photos I’d beaten a different visual style. A surreal, back-in-time kind of style. You know, something a little more… Motown.
I liked it. I liked it a lot.
And yes, Motown In Nairobi was pretty damn awesome.
Yes, you can book yourself a moment. Or for a loved one. Or for you and a loved one. Be it personal portrait, friendship portrait, couple/family portrait; or an event you have coming up – wedding, music, private family function… You get the idea. As long as there are stories to tell, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a storyteller as good.
